Cellular Syntax isn't just a name; it's a philosophy. Here, we explore the intriguing fusion of computer science and biomedical engineering, where cellular structures meet programming syntax. I want to invite you to join me on a journey through the binary blueprint of life 🧬.

With an undergraduate degree in computer science 💻 and a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering 🧪, my passion lies in computational modeling in medicine and biology. From the precise control of neurons 🧠 to the rhythmic beating of the heart ❤️, I find excitement in unraveling the complex mechanisms that make us tick.

Professional Projects

NeuHeart Project Logo

One of my proudest achievements is my work on the European Horizon 2020 project NeuHeart - A neuroprosthesis to Restore the Vagal-Cardiac Closed-Loop Connection after Heart Transplantation, where I developed models of the cardiovascular system and its autonomic control. Through this research, I've investigated the (patho-)physiology of cardiac denervation and designed control strategies for closed-loop vagus nerve stimulation for heart rate control. These innovations have real-world applications, like managing a chronically elevated resting heart rate.

About the Blog

In this blog, I'll be sharing coding projects that span the realms of cardiovascular modeling, neuronal modeling, machine learning in medicine, and biomedical signal processing. Whether it's implementing models published in literature or sharing insights from my daily research, I aim to make this space educational and inspiring, especially for those new to the computational modeling game.

Feel free to explore and learn. If you're interested in collaborations or simply want to chat about modeling stuff, I'd be thrilled to hear from you! Reach out to me via email 📧 at max.haberbusch@meduniwien.ac.at or connect with me on LinkedIn.

And, before you dive into the blog, a quick shoutout to the creator of the cute neuron logo that adds a touch of charm to Cellular Syntax: Neuron icons created by Neuron icons created by Freepik - Flaticon.

Happy exploring 🚀, and welcome to the world of Cellular Syntax! ✨
